At Blackmagic Design’s event in Los Angeles today I got some time with their officials to get details on their progress with the products announced at this year’s NAB convention. As expected, none of the products will be done on time. Check out the video above to hear it straight from the source.
Blackmagic Exclusive Interview
Both the 4K Production Cinema Camera and the Pocket Cinema Camera look fantastic. Once they do ship, I think customers are going to be very happy with these. The only question is when that will be.
Pocket Cinema Camera:
Units have shipped from the factory. But due to remaining software bugs, it may not ship to retail until mid August.
4K Production Cinema Camera:
The software is not feature complete yet. What they had on the show floor was a working prototype, with many buttons still as placeholders. This is looking like late fall to me.
Davinci Resolve 10:
Probably not shipping in Q3. According to officials, a beta version of Resolve 10 should be available to owners of Resolve 9 in September, with the final version shipping about a month after.
Intensity Shuttle USB 3:
A beta driver has been made available for this device to finally work on MAC OSX. You can download from the Blackmagic support site.
